The #970 Large Scale, G Scale (1:29) A.S.F. A-3 Ride-Control Metal Trucks, equipped with 33-inch smooth back metal wheels (29mm), are designed for large scale 'G' scale trains. These trucks boast a longer spring travel, lack spring planks, and employ friction castings in the bolster for constant friction control, reducing excessive lateral car roll. This results in higher train speeds with less derailment risk compared to earlier designs. ASF sold over 140,000 sets by 1949. These AAR trucks are ideal for modeling the transition era up to 1994, when friction bearings were phased out from interchange service.
