Unlike stainless steel stills and stills that are only copper plated, this still is made from solid copper. When your hot spirit comes in contact with copper the copper acts like a catalytic converter and drives sulfur out of the spirit. This process means you get less x and you simply get better quality spirit. Copper is an expensive metal now and it definitely increases the cost of the still manufacture but we can say for sure that there is a very good reason why it's still the preferred material by many serious distillers simply because the results are superior. Stainless has its advantages but there is no substitute for copper and a still head like this will last you a . Use one of our custom lids (Available separately) as a base for the still top or have your own hole cut. We have the DS125 stainless steel dome lid for the BrewZilla (AG475A2) and DigiBoil (BE501) electric kettles or the B27L flat lid for the Grainfather and Brewers Edge (Mash and Boil) family of products. IIf you are wanting to match an existing hole, it will need to be 47mm, very close to 1 7/8inch across. If you are planning on drilling a hole it will be the same size, but wait until your still head arrives for perfect measurement.
